3. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
Our websites and the services embedded in them may use cookies, pixels, local storage, analytics tools, and similar technologies. Some are necessary for ticketing, security, and site operation. Others help us understand website use or measure advertising.
You can usually control cookies through your browser or device settings. Blocking some cookies may prevent parts of the website or ticketing process from working correctly. Our website may also use third-party analytics or advertising tools that collect information directly under their own privacy policies.
We do not sell personal data for money as part of our ordinary business operations. Some privacy laws may treat certain advertising-related disclosures as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising. Where required, you may request to opt out as described below.
4. When We Share Information
- Service providers. We share information with companies that provide ticketing, payment processing, website hosting, email or text delivery, analytics, advertising, security, customer support, and other operational services.
- Event and business partners. We may share limited information with a partner when needed to operate a co-produced event, fulfill a purchase, or provide a requested service.
- Legal and safety purposes. We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is required by law, legal process, insurance requirements, or necessary to protect people, property, systems, or rights.
- Business changes. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, sale, financing, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of the business.
- With your direction or consent. We may share information when you ask us to do so, such as when transferring a ticket or coordinating with another member of your party.
We do not authorize service providers to use personal information for purposes unrelated to the services they provide to us, except as allowed by law and their agreements with us.
5. Texas Privacy Rights
Where the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act applies, a Texas resident may have the right to:
- Confirm whether we process your personal data and access that data.
- Correct inaccurate personal data.
- Delete personal data provided by or obtained about you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Receive a portable copy of personal data you previously provided to us, when required.
- Opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or certain profiling.
- Exercise these rights without unlawful discrimination or retaliation.
How to submit a request
Email info@darkhourhauntedhouse.com with the subject line “Privacy Request,” or mail a written request to the address in the Contact Us section. Describe the right you want to exercise and provide enough information for us to locate and verify the relevant records.
We may ask for reasonable verification before completing a request. An authorized agent may submit a request when permitted by law, but we may require proof of authority and may verify the request directly with the consumer.
We will respond without undue delay and generally within 45 days. When reasonably necessary, we may extend the response period once by up to 45 additional days and will explain the reason for the extension.
Appeals
If we deny a privacy request, you may appeal by emailing or mailing us with the subject line “Privacy Appeal.” Please identify the original request and explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered. If an appeal is denied, we will provide information about how to contact the Texas Attorney General when required by law.
6. Sensitive Information
We do not ask guests to provide sensitive information unless it is reasonably necessary for an accommodation, safety matter, incident, legal obligation, or another specific purpose. We do not use voluntarily provided health or accessibility information for advertising. We do not knowingly sell sensitive personal data.
7. Children’s Privacy
Our websites and online ticketing services are intended for use by adults and are not directed to children under 13. A parent or legal guardian should purchase or manage tickets for a child. We do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from a child under 13 without legally required parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information to us online, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
8. Data Security and Breach Response
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website, payment system, email account, or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. If a security incident occurs, we will investigate and provide legally required notices.
9. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including ticket fulfillment, customer service, accounting, tax, security, chargeback, insurance, legal, and recordkeeping needs. Retention periods vary based on the type of information and legal requirements. We may retain de identified or aggregated information that no longer reasonably identifies you.
10. Your Communication Choices
Transactional messages about a purchase or visit are not marketing messages and may still be sent when needed. You may unsubscribe from promotional email using the link in the message. For promotional text messages, follow the opt-out instructions in the message. Opting out of marketing does not cancel an order, ticket, or necessary service communication.
11. Third-Party Websites and Platforms
Our websites may link to or use third-party ticketing, payment, mapping, social media, video, or other services. Those companies control their own privacy practices. This policy does not replace their privacy policies, and we encourage you to review the policy shown by the service you use.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices, technology, vendors, or legal obligations change. The updated version will be posted with a revised effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website, email, or another reasonable method.
